Kitchen Garden Starter Combo – 5 Grow Bags, 5 Seed Packets, Seedling Tray & 500 g Cocopeat
A little space, a few seeds and the joy of picking something you grew yourself. The Anandi Greens Kitchen Garden Combo brings together five mixed-size grow bags, five vegetable seed packets, one seedling tray and 500 g cocopeat to help you start a practical balcony or terrace garden. Grow spinach and methi in the wide, shallow bags, and give chilli, green capsicum and Big Round brinjal their own bags.
What's included
-
18 × 9 inch HDPE grow bag — 2 bags; One for spinach; one for methi
-
12 × 12 inch HDPE grow bag — 2 bags; One chilli plant; one green capsicum plant
-
15 × 15 inch HDPE grow bag — 1 bag; One Big Round brinjal plant
-
Spinach seeds — 1 packet; Leafy greens
-
Fenugreek / Methi seeds — 1 packet; Fresh methi leaves
-
F1 Chilli seeds — 1 packet; Chilli plant
-
F1 Green Capsicum seeds — 1 packet; Green capsicum plant
-
F1 Brinjal Big Round seeds — 1 packet; Round brinjal plant
-
Seedling tray: 1 tray for starting chilli, capsicum and brinjal seedlings.
-
Low EC cocopeat: 500 g dry brick for preparing a nursery growing medium. Hydrate before use; this quantity is not enough to fill all five grow bags.
Why this combination works
-
Three bag sizes for different crops: wide bags for leafy greens and deeper bags for individual fruiting plants.
-
Vegetables you can use in everyday cooking: spinach, methi, chilli, green capsicum and big round brinjal.
-
A simple starting layout: five bags make it easy to plan your space and care for each crop separately.
-
Reusable containers: empty, clean and inspect the bags between crops before planting again.
-
Start at home: suitable for balconies, terraces and small home gardens with adequate light and safe floor space.
Which seeds go in which bag?
-
Spinach — 18 × 9 inches; About 1–1.5 cm; Sow directly in the bag. Thin seedlings to roughly 10–15 cm apart for leaf growth.
-
Methi / Fenugreek — 18 × 9 inches; About 1–2 cm; Sow directly in spaced rows. Avoid a thick, overcrowded layer of seeds.
-
F1 Chilli — 12 × 12 inches; About 0.5–0.6 cm; Start in a seed tray or small nursery pot, then transplant one established seedling per bag.
-
F1 Green Capsicum — 12 × 12 inches; About 0.5–0.6 cm; Start in a seed tray or small nursery pot, then transplant one established seedling per bag.
-
F1 Brinjal Big Round — 15 × 15 inches; About 0.5–0.6 cm; Start in a seed tray or small nursery pot, then transplant one established seedling into the larger bag.
How to grow: your first five steps
-
Choose your spot. Fruiting vegetables generally need 6–8 hours of direct sunlight. Leafy greens can suit a spot with around 3–5 hours of sun, with protection from harsh afternoon heat when needed. Check that your balcony or terrace can safely support filled bags.
-
Prepare the bags. Check that drainage openings are clear. Fill with a loose, well-draining vegetable potting mix, leaving a little space below the rim for watering. Do not use compacted soil alone.
-
Sow the seeds. Use the crop guide above. Cover gently and water with a soft spray so seeds stay in place. Keep nursery pots labelled.
-
Give seedlings room. Thin crowded leafy greens. Gradually introduce nursery-grown chilli, capsicum and brinjal seedlings to outdoor conditions before transplanting. Plant one fruiting vegetable per bag.
-
Care and harvest. Water as needed, feed established plants according to the plant-food label, and support taller plants. Pick leaves or vegetables when ready for the variety you are growing.
Easy care instructions
- Check moisture regularly. Keep the mix lightly moist during germination; avoid waterlogging.
- Water gently near the base of established plants. Water needs change with heat, wind, rainfall and plant size.
- Keep drainage openings unobstructed and avoid leaving bags standing in collected water.
- Use a suitable vegetable plant food as directed on its label. Do not overfeed young seedlings.
- Inspect the undersides of leaves for pests and remove damaged leaves when appropriate.
- Use stakes or supports if fruiting plants become top-heavy. Supports are purchased separately.
- Clean and dry empty bags before storage. Store unused seeds in a cool, dry place according to their packet instructions.
When should I sow?
Choose a sowing time that suits your local climate. Spinach and methi usually prefer milder conditions; chilli, capsicum and brinjal need suitable warmth and light. This combo is not a guarantee that every crop will grow in every season. Germination, growth and harvest depend on temperature, seed care, sunlight, watering and growing conditions.
Ideal for
First-time home gardeners, families starting a small kitchen garden, balcony and terrace growers, and gardening gifts for someone who enjoys growing vegetables. You will need space for five filled bags and enough light for the crops you choose.
FAQ:
-
Can I put all five vegetables in one bag? Use separate bags as shown in the planting guide. Chilli, capsicum and brinjal need their own space; keep one established plant in each allocated bag.
-
Do I sow all the seeds at once? No. Sow only what your space can support and store the remaining seeds as instructed on the packet. For leafy greens, you can try small repeat sowings when the season is suitable.
-
Can I grow this combo on a balcony? Yes, if it has suitable sunlight, drainage and safe space for filled containers. A deeply shaded balcony may not provide enough light for fruiting vegetables.
-
How soon will the seeds germinate or vegetables be ready? Timing varies by crop, temperature and growing conditions. Refer to each packet's instructions and allow time for seedlings to establish. The mature plants in the images are illustrative and are not delivered with the combo.
-
Are the bags reusable? They can be reused while in good condition. Remove old roots, clean the bags, check for damage and refresh the potting mix before another crop. Useful life depends on care and exposure.
