Amla (Indian Gooseberry) is a fruit tree from the Phyllanthaceae family, native to the Indian Subcontinent & Southeast Asia. Raised from these Phyllanthus emblica seeds, it grows into a deciduous tree reaching 8–18 m with a rounded / spreading canopy and a spread of 6–10 m. These are natural, untreated Amla (Indian Gooseberry) seeds intended for nursery raising and home or farm planting.

Each pack contains 15 seeds with a germination rate of about 60–80% under suitable conditions, and seedlings typically emerge in 15–30 days. Rated moderate to raise from seed, Amla (Indian Gooseberry) responds best when you clean seeds properly and pre-soak before sowing. Start seeds in nursery trays or Geo Fabric Circular Grow Bags filled with a light, well-draining mix, then shift healthy seedlings to a spot with full sun and well-drained loamy soil (pH 6.0–8.0). A Small Stainless Steel Trowel makes lifting and transplanting young seedlings easy without disturbing the roots.

The ideal sowing window in India is February–April & June–August, during the spring & monsoon window, when warm 20–35°C temperatures support quick, even germination. Amla (Indian Gooseberry) suits urban planting, avenue and roadside planting, landscaping, agroforestry and farm and boundary planting across tropical & subtropical zones. Traditionally used in Ayurvedic practices. Timber value is rated limited. Planning a mixed landscape? Pair it with our Bael Seeds | बेल पत्र (10 seeds) for staggered seasonal interest.

Beyond its visual appeal, Amla (Indian Gooseberry) provides habitat and food resources, has carbon sequestration potential rated moderate, and moderate. Growing from seed is the most economical way to establish a row of young plants, and it lets the young tree adapt to your local soil and climate from day one — ideal for home gardeners, farm owners, schools, CSR plantation drives and landscape projects.

How to Grow Amla (Indian Gooseberry) from Seed
